Emotions Education 101 Group Program
Move Beyond Anxiety and Burnout: Reclaim Your Authentic Self Through Emotional Mastery
Discover Emotions Education 101—A transformative group program rooted in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) and the proven Change Triangle® tool; developed by Hilary Jacobs Hendel and Heather Sanford.
The Core Problem
Ever Feel Overwhelmed by Anxiety, Stuck in Defenses, or Disconnected From Yourself?
Many of us were raised without a manual for understanding our feelings. When uncomfortable sensations arise, we default to old survival mechanisms:
-
Relentless Anxiety & Restlessness: Feeling constantly on edge without knowing why.
-
Inhibitory Emotions: Getting paralyzed by shame, guilt, or self-judgment whenever you try to express yourself.
-
Defensive Coping Habits: Retreating into perfectionism, procrastination, people-pleasing, or emotional numbing to keep pain at bay.
-
Physical Tension: Carrying unexpressed feelings in your body as chronic tightness, stomach issues, or fatigue.
These responses aren't personal flaws—they are protective mechanisms. But when you learn to map what is happening in your body and mind, you can move through emotional storms into a state of grounded resilience.

What is Emotions Education 101?
A Somatic, Science-Backed Roadmap for Emotional Health
Emotions Education 101™ is an experiential, curriculum-driven group course created to give you practical tools for processing emotion safely. Grounded in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP)—a therapeutic modality founded by Dr. Diana Fosha—this course teaches you how the brain processes emotional experience in real time.
The Foundation: The Change Triangle®
Pioneered in accessible educational formats by Hilary Jacobs Hendel and expanded by Heather Sanford, the Change Triangle is your mental health GPS. It maps the movement between four distinct emotional states:
-
Top-Left (Defenses): What we do to avoid feeling (e.g., sarcasm, overworking, substance use, endless scrolling).
-
Top-Right (Inhibitory Emotions): The internal brakes that block core feelings—Anxiety, Shame, and Guilt.
-
Bottom Point (Core Emotions): Fundamental biological impulses—Sadness, Anger, Joy, Fear, Disgust, Excitement, and Sexual Excitement.
-
Openhearted State of the Authentic Self: The ultimate goal—feeling Calm, Curious, Connected, Compassionate, Confident, Courageous, and Clear (The 8 Cs).
In Emotions Education 101, you learn step-by-step how to identify where you are on the Change Triangle at any moment and guide yourself back down to the Openhearted State.
